IFK operates combustion and gasification systems for experimental investigations up to 500 kW thermal power.

Fuel characterization

Furthermore, IFK has all necessary facilities for fuel preparation including drying and milling, a laboratory for fuel analysis, combustion residuals and corrosion products, as well as measurement technologies adapted to the various processes and their dimensions.

IFK uses a variety of simulation tools such as the in-house development AIOLOS for numerical modelling and simulation of combustion and steam generation processes.
