Experimental Facilities

The relation with the combined heat and power station of University of Stuttgart offers IFK unique experimental opportunities using the station’s technical infrastructure.

IFK operates combustion and gasification systems for experimental investigations up to 500 kW thermal power.

Furthermore, IFK has all necessary facilities for fuel preparation including drying and milling, a laboratory for fuel analysis, combustion residuals and corrosion products, as well as measurement technologies adapted to the various processes and their dimensions.

IFK uses a variety of simulation tools such as the in-house development AIOLOS for numerical modelling and simulation of combustion and steam generation processes.
