Plant description

The electric heated fluidized bed plant Veronika is made for basic research investigations of fluidized bed processes (e.g. gasification and combustion).

The plant consists out of two staged fluidized bed reactors. Therefore especially staged processes can be investigated realistic. Beside the operation of both reactors, the operation of a single reactor is also possible.

With the fuel dosing unit different solid fuels like e.g. coal, biomass, residues as well as additives and sorbents can be dosed.

Pressures and temperatures are continuously measured at multiple parts. The gas composition can be measured at the end of the first and second stage. The following gas components can be measured:

  gasification gases
online measurement O2, CO, CO2, H2, CH4, C2-C4
wet chemical measurement    tar concentration

The temperature of the whole plant can be controlled by electric heating shells and pads. Therefore especially staged processes can be investigated realistically.

At the end of the first reactor the particle concentration in the gas is reduced by a cyclone. Then the gas passes through a down flow freeboard to increase the gas residence time. Then the gas can either be extracted for analysis or it flows through the second reactor. The temperature of the second reactor can be chosen independent from the first reactor.
